From Street Sport to the Olympic Stage

Back in 2006 the Sprite 3x3 street basketball tournament was first launched to bring young basketball fans to the world stage and to develop the sport of basketball in Mongolia.

Over the 12 years since, MCS Coca-Cola has continuously developed and organized Sprite 3x3, the Sprite Super League, the Sprite Development League and the Sprite All-Star games through its Sprite brand. In that time some 120,000 young basketball fans have taken part, and the players who came through them are now making Mongolia’s name known on the world stage.

Our players took first place and were crowned Asian champions at the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2017, held in Mongolia in October 2017. Between April 27 and May 1 this year they competed against teams from 22 countries at the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2018 in Shenzhen, China, and took the silver medal, continuing their run of success. With 3x3 basketball being added to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the team has achieved even more in recent years and is now preparing intensively for the 2019 Olympic qualifying tournament. To allow the players to focus entirely on their preparation and give it everything they have, MCS Coca-Cola has signed contracts with them and begun paying salaries through to the end of 2020.

The time is coming when our basketball players will compete at the Olympic Games and the national flag of Mongolia will fly on the world stage.
