Five Reasons to Believe in Magic

Life is a short thing that passes by while we wait for magic to arrive. Yet we rarely notice that magic can be found in the simplest of things.

Sometimes it feels as though we are always thinking about what we do not have, and rarely stop to appreciate what we do. But if you notice what you have and feel the wonderful people around you, you will realize that life does not have to be perfect to be magical. Put simply, magic is happiness and contentment. It is all those things around you — even the simple ones — that make you smile, bring you joy and leave you satisfied. So by seeing every moment of life in a positive light and being content with what you have, you can create a little magic in your life every single day.

1. What gives you a sense of contentment?

Listen to the extraordinary orchestra of the living world. Spring has already arrived outside. You can see it and hear it. That is magical.

2. What makes you happy?

If we choose to, we can make every day as joyful as a special occasion. Every new year, new month, new week, new day and new morning is a brand-new gift. That is magical.

How you receive that gift is entirely up to you. If you can feel that anger and frustration are using up the time of this short life, you will realize how many unexpected gifts, joys and moments of happiness life is offering you that you are letting pass by.

3. What makes you smile?

They say the brain can be fooled by a single action. Simply putting your mouth and lips into a smiling position starts the release of happiness hormones. So even if you do not feel like smiling, just shaping your lips into a smile is enough to make your brain think you are happy. So just smile, and fill yourself with happiness. That feeling itself is magical. Always remember that even a simple smile can give someone the hope to start life anew.

4. What brings you joy?

An encouraging word from someone, a kind act, care and love, someone who loves you — whatever it is that brings you joy. All of it is magical in itself.

5. What inspires you?

Life gives us happiness a little at a time. That happiness is your like-minded friends, your family, everything you have. Moments to look back on and learn from, moments to remember with joy, times of sadness and times of laughter… All of it is magical in itself.
