Treating and Reusing Wastewater Offers Great Potential to Conserve Fresh Water Resources

A forum under the theme “Wastewater — A Valuable Resource” was successfully held today to mark World Water Day. During the forum, enterprises that reuse wastewater and have adopted new technologies exhibited and presented their technologies and achievements to the water sector.

On the occasion, M. Enkhjargal, Environment, Health and Safety Manager at MCS Coca-Cola — a company that treats and uses wastewater efficiently and sets an example for other enterprises and organizations — said in her presentation:

“Water is the foundation of our company’s business. We are therefore implementing water stewardship programs step by step to protect the resource our business depends on. A clear example is the wastewater treatment facility we commissioned in 2015, the first of its kind among food manufacturers. Our wastewater treatment facility filters and treats 2,000 cubic meters of wastewater a day using biological and MBR technology. The water leaving the facility meets MNS 4943:2015, Mongolia’s standard for treated wastewater discharged into the environment, and is treated to a level clean enough for fish to live in. We supply this water to the Ulaanbaatar public utility company for watering the city’s green spaces and washing roads and public areas, and we have agreed to supply it to the Fire Department of the Bayanzurkh District Emergency Agency for fighting forest and steppe fires. We also use it to water the green spaces at our own plant and to wash our delivery vehicles.”
