Success Is the Result of Trying One More Time Than You Have Failed
First held on July 20, 1968 at Soldier Field in Chicago’s Park District on the initiative of the Kennedy Foundation, the Special Olympics is not about winning, coming first or losing. Its purpose is to include people with intellectual disabilities in society, to help them reach their aspirations and fulfill their dreams, to improve their physical health through sport, and to show the public that they are people just like us.

The Special Olympics World Games, held in Los Angeles, USA from July 25 to August 2, 2015, were a great success, with more than 7,000 athletes from 177 countries competing in 25 sports alongside more than 3,000 coaches and over 30,000 volunteers. Mongolia was represented by 16 athletes competing in four sports: judo, table tennis, athletics (long- and short-distance running) and shot put.
Mongolian athletes did extremely well at the Games, finishing on the podium 14 times in all — 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals and 2 special placings — bringing home a wealth of awards and making Mongolia’s name known around the world. P. Bolormaa, Executive Director of the Special Olympics Mongolia Committee, expressed her deep gratitude to the team at MCS Coca-Cola, a supporter of healthy and active living, for the support that helped the athletes achieve so much.
